Mission

The National Adolescent Literacy Coalition offers a collective voice for national leadership and a national perspective to all issues related to adolescent literacy.  NALC provides the necessary vision, communication, and coordination to advance literacy for all adolescents, empowering them to full participation in a democratic society.

Goals

The National Adolescent Literacy Coalition was created out of a critical need to support adolescents who struggle with literacy and is a collective voice committed to improving the literacy levels of all adolescents. To this end, the Coalition will…

  • Provide information to Coalition members, educators, legislators, parents and others about the best practices in adolescent literacy.
  • Review, assess, and recommend policy that addresses adolescent literacy programs, initiatives, and legislation.
  • Support the formation and maintenance of a national clearinghouse of information on best practices in adolescent literacy.
